Care4Calais
A Tale of Two Cities
'Convoy to Calais’ planned by 'Stop the War Coalition' with other groups and individuals. The objective is to deliver practical aid for refugees in Calais and campaign. The planning was made over months and the response was very good with many people contributing aid and volunteering to drive. Up to 250 vehicles were committed to driving to Calais on the 18th of June 2016 to make the delivery of the aid to 'Care4Calais' warehouse in Sangatte next door to Calais. The receiving charity Care4Calais is an independent non-political charity that distributes aid to refugees in Northern France.
However at the last minute the authorities objected to the convoy going to France. The British police stopped many of the Convoy to Calais vehicles and the Border customs stopped others. Spontaneous demonstrations took place in Dover, England, by the frustrated aid volunteers who were planning on making delivers of aid for the refugees in France.
On the upside a few of the Convoy to Care4Calais vehicles managed to get though the iron wall. Though small in number it included the 38 tonne truck that was heading up the aid convoy to Calais.
‘Convoy to Calais’ was arranged by: Stop the War Coalition, Stand up to Racism, People's Assembly Against Austerity, War on Want, Unite the Union, Communications Workers Union, Momentum, and the Muslim Association of Britain. Also other groups and individuals supported the charitable undertaking. Receiving charity, Care4Calais. Saturday 18th of June 2016

PS: Taboo thought
If the main cause of the refugee crisis is the instability and chaos caused by military intervention and war. The solution is for the West to abstain from military intervention, promoting war, supporting violence, and weapons sales to dictatorships or repressive regimes.
