Anti-Gaddafi protesters, opposite the Libyan Embassy, demonstrate in solidarity with the peoples uprising against dictatorship in Libya, inspired by the recent revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt. The protest is called for by the British-Libyan Solidarity Campaign and others, to promote freedom, human rights and justice for the Libyan people. However, another contrary demonstration in close proximity, but kept separate by the police, supports the Colonel Gaddafi regime. Allegedly the demonstrators supporting Colonel Gaddafi are being paid to attend. London, UK, 17/02/2011
footnote: Demonstration placard shows Colonel Gaddafi with Tony Blair shoulder to shoulder in a displayed print, in the lower left centre, taken at a time that Blair was befriending the dictator in the preparations for the military invasions of Afghanistan and later Iraq.
