Joe Lauria awards John Pilger

Joe Lauria editor-in-chief of Consortium News, talks before presenting the, Gary Webb Freedom of the Press Award, posthumously, to John Pilger (1939 - 2023), handed to Pilger’s partner Jane Hill in the presence of John Pilger’s son Sam Pilger and granddaughter. Joe Lauria tells us that he was able to inform John Pilger that he had won the award before his death the previous year. Further he outlines the rarity, history and high significance the Gary Webb Freedom of the Press Award for John Richard Pilger, journalist, filmmaker, author, for a lifetime of exposing injustice / afflicting the powerful and defending Press Freedom in his films, books and articles. Presented by the Consortium for Independent Journalism publishers of Consortium.
