It seems curious to see a cannon ball displayed outside a prison, but it turns out to be edifying. This cannon ball was found in these grounds when the foundations of this top security Prison H M P Belmarsh was built. The prison was built on the land a part of the historic arms industries’ factory on the East site of the former Royal Arsenal in Woolwich. It is ironic that the political prisoner Julian Assange is incarcerated here, it should be added unjustly, because his journalist and publishing efforts revealed war crimes which caused great embarrassment with revelations of how arms products, although modern ones, are used.
