Les “gilets jaunes”, yellow vests, protesters gather before entering the Saturday outdoor market, in what is normally a tranquil town, Fontenay Le Comte in central west France. This is a part of a numerous series of protests, demonstrations and roadblocks across France. The protesters are campaigning against a fuel tax hike and other related taxes and economic factors that are impoverishing or causing difficulties for people in the lower and middling economic bracket, taxes that are perhaps seen as funding tax cuts for the very rich.
