Sir Terence Conran FCSD, designer, retailer and founder of the Design Museum, speaks at the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Design Museum at the former Commonwealth Institute, Kensington High Street, scheduled to open in 2015 / 2016. Sir Terence Conran talks passionately about the need for good design, he then rephrases as "sensible design". Also Conran discusses the important role of British Design plays in a world perspective; the great asset that British designers are to the country. He notes the proximity of the new Design Museum in Kensington’s area to other key cultural Museums and Galleries. He shows appreciation to the generous donors especially in these difficult times. Conran compliments Chelsfield the developer of the whole site, who have donated the building, the valuable land and a substantial fund towards the cost of redeveloping the building; for having the vision to include the new Design Museum in their development.
