Loren Carpenter, Oscar winning, Senior Scientist at Pixar, attending the Pixar exhibition at the Science Museum. Carpenter is inspecting the Pixar Zoetrope, a project that he served on as Technical Lead. A disc spins 3D characters from Toy Story 2 in different poses with synchronised strobe lights flashing activated and instantly the animation characters, Woody, Buzz and friends, seemingly, come to life. The exhibition is based upon the one organised by The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), NY. Pixar created the animated feature films Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Monster, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and the upcoming, Cars, and more feature animated films, marketed and distributed by Disney. Loren began working with the founders of Pixar in 1981. While at Lucasfilm. Carpenter was awarded an Oscar for his fundamental discovery that enabled computers to manage the massive amounts of geometry needed for digital feature filmmaking.
